ZW WINDOW RESONANCE DAMPING DISCS

Your carefully dialed in audio system is not performing very well.

I’m serious.

Let’s try to get our heads in the right place to understand. It’s just 2 minutes.

You’re likely already using quality footers under your components, possibly better platforms or shelves and other isolation devices. They matter, right?

But were you able to hear your components not performing optimally before adding those upgrades for resonance control? Could you actually hear the components vibrating? I don’t think so. You maybe have a buzzing transformer? No vibration control you added helped that very much. You needed a DC blocker on your AC power.

The point I’m making is that you can’t hear the destructive distortion effects that window glass creates in real time alongside the music coming from your speakers. This is your audio system as it sounds today. You’ve spent years, real effort, careful attention and money, and your system hopefully finally sounds pretty great. But your system is still clearly hobbled. Sorry but I feel hobbled is fitting usage here. You didn’t know you had a rather large distortion issue unaddressed.

Try this out. Would you be okay with having $5 Radio Shack interconnects in your system instead of the interconnects which you found to perform nicely in your system?

No of course you wouldn’t. Likely that move would make a big loss in every area of system sound quality. Those less than mediocre interconnects would be a real weak link in your system performance. Leaving those really poor interconnects in your system and yet upgrading other things, usually at meaningful expense, can only get you incrementally better sonic performance. Your system would be hobbled with a serious weak link continuously left in place. You right now have a similar glaring weak link unaddressed with your system’s performance. The window glass.

What you will hear with Marigo Audio ZW Window Resonance Damping discs is the very real effects of eliminating these pervasive glass panel distortions. The better your system is now, the more improvement in absolutely every area of performance that you’ll hear.

Here are the comments from a customer, John Zermani, with an excellent well sorted system. And do please consider that John was very satisfied with the performance of his quite costly and very carefully set up system before the ZW window treatment.

John emailed:

“OMG, those 4 ZW window damping Discs on each of the music room windows had an immediate effect. The entire presentation has transformed. I can never go back.  Just so much better in every way. There is WAY more “there” there than I’d have thought a recording could capture.

I’m IN the music; not a detached viewer. The sound field is wider, deeper, taller, and it MATTERS.

Marigo Audio ZW Window damping Discs have improved my music, and my connection with and reaction to it, more than anything in my many years of pursuit of live music at home.

The ZW window damping discs are simply astounding.”

John Zermani

John Zermani’s system performance had been hobbled by unresolved serious distortions. He simply had no real idea that large panels of glass were a serious distortion issue heavily impacting his system. He decided to try the ZW window resonance damping Discs because of a recommendation by someone he trusts.  He had no idea what he might hear or not hear. He only decided to try the ZW window treatment after being assured of a 100% money back guarantee. Perhaps read one more time what John heard after installation on all his windows. This is actually what you also will get with the ZW Window Resonance Damping Discs installed. John’s comments are well considered though excited comments of a seasoned critical listener and music lover.

THE ISSUE WITH WINDOWS

Glass panes when exposed to sound vibrations create energy waves on the surface of the pane that propagate very quickly and reflect many times at window termination edges with surprisingly little dissipation at that dissimilar impedance boundary/window frame junction. We end up with a perfect storm of long duration, high odd order distortion components that compromise a high-end sound system in every parameter.

ZW WINDOW RESONANCE DAMPING TECHNOLOGY

The technology we use is constrained layer damping. You know the drill. Vibrational energy is converted to heat within the constrained layer. But beyond that sound byte engineering there has been years of R&D and prototypes. Our new “Z technology” constrained layer material is custom produced for us to our exacting specification in Belgium. 25 years of constrained layer designs have led us to a deeper understanding of the dynamic processes involved in optimizing the concept. The ZW Resonance Damping Discs are surprisingly powerful, so they can be small in diameter to have a minimal visual impact on a window. They are less than 3/8” thick, so allow an operable window to open over an installed ZW disc.

GETTING THE IDEAL ZW RESONANCE DAMPING DISC INSTALLATION

Marigo Audio has done careful listening evaluations on all sizes of windows to know precisely the size and number of ZW Resonance damping discs required for best performance.

We will need this from you:

  • The measured size (in inches or centimeters) of the actual glass width and height for each pane of glass in a window.
  • How many there are of each size glass pane is needed. You must treat all window glass that is in the listening environment. This is important. As an example, distortions from untreated glass is like leaving a window open while a lawnmower is running outside. A treated window is like closing that window. The point is, even one untreated window has an outsized negative impact.
  • Next, note the 2 windows shown treated in the photos on this page. The first photo shows the optimum treatment which is four smaller ZW Discs per glass pane. This treatment is approximately 25% higher cost than using only two larger ZW discs per pane, as shown in the second photo. The 4 ZW disc treatment is superior and should be chosen unless other considerations on your part apply. The 2 ZW disc treatment is still excellent. And smaller glass panes need only one or two of our smallest ZW Resonance damping discs, which are just one inch (25mm) in diameter. Black is the only color.

We can work up the total treatment and cost for your room windows with either 4 or 2 ZW discs per medium to larger size glass pane. Or quote both 4 and 2 ZW disc treatment options.
